List of car Maintenance tips for the Summertime
We are already into the month of May, and that means the summer season is right around the corner. During the summertime all of us do a lot more driving because we are taking summer road trips and spending more time driving to different destinations to spend time outdoors. Most people believe that the only season that we need to do pre-season automotive maintenance for is the winter. However, summertime presents a unique set of challenges for drivers as well. Therefore, in this blog post we have decided to highlight a list of car maintenance tips for the summertime.
Check Your Battery:
The winter season is notorious for dead batteries and jump starts. However, most people are unaware of the fact that the summer heat is actually even tougher on your battery. Therefore, we recommend taking your automotive battery in to get it checked by a professional service technician if it is more than three years old. The summer heat can actually speed up the chemical reaction inside of your battery that causes it to be overcharged. This can significantly reduce the life of your battery.
Check Your Fluids and Change the oil:
The fluids are extremely important because they help to lubricate and cool your engine, which is especially important during the hot, dry and dusty summer conditions. Therefore, we recommend checking all of your fluids before the summer season, and changing or topping off the fluids that are low. Also, make sure that you change your oil at the intervals recommended by your vehicles owners manual.
Check Your Tires:
First of all, a lot of drivers use winter tires on their vehicles during the winter season to get better traction on the snowy and icy roads. However, after the wintertime you’ll need to switch your winter tires for all-season or summer tires. Also, make sure that you keep your tires properly inflated because it helps your tires last longer and improves fuel economy.
