Jack Roush is always on the move. Wearing his trademark straw hat, Roush can usually be found at the racetrack walking through the NASCAR Nextel Cup garage area watching, learning, jotting down notes, and developing innovative new methods for improving on-track performance. Roush’s childhood fascination with all things mechanical has since grown into a lifelong passion for performance, and translated into a tremendous engineering and motorsports success story.
Roush first began his professional career in 1964 as an engineer for Ford Motor Company. He eventually left Ford to pursue his interest in engine development and motorsports. Roush formed Jack Roush Performance Engineering, a precursor of today’s Roush Industries, in 1976 and Roush Racing in 1988.
